Turn your entry hall into an Inspirational & Love Note Blackboard!

August 27, 2010

This idea came to me during an event so I grabbed the nearest piece of paper and doodled away….to turn our entry hall wall into an inspirational, love note blackboard!

My housemate and I write inspiring and supportive notes back and forth to each other, which are wonderful to come home to and wake up to, as our schedules are always branding us ships passing in the night. I thought it would be fun to make them larger than life, and add a little fun to our bland entry hall wall with a giant blackboard!

This can also serve as a nice love note space for our sweeties to leave sugary words when we’re not looking!  teehee.

Just happens that a client did a wall for her kids and had left over paint, so I didn’t even have to spend a dime on product. Pretty sweet deal, eh?  Great way to share and conserve resources as well.

I topped off the blackboard by adding more of those polished rocks I have featured in other designs here, which really detracts from the no-so-fabulous faux oak wood floorboard, since we can’t paint those either.

The Complete Vision…
My complete vision for this design is to shadow box the light and heater switch plates, as well as the security entry phone, as they really aren’t very pretty and since it’s a rental, we can’t paint them. Probably wouldn’t make the landlord very happy!

The shadow boxes will also act as shelves to put a candle and sculpture on for additional entry decor inspiration!

What a great idea! Everything doesn’t have to be a grocery list or a task. It’s important to write messages of encouragement and reassurance as well. I’m gonna try this with my kitchen. 🙂

I have seen entire refridgerator fronts covered with blackboard paint. Talk about an oversized shopping list! Also a great art space for your kids to be with you when you are cooking in the kitchen.

Take a picture when you’re done and send it in! I’d love to post it for others to see!
