Holiday Decor Tips

December 8, 2006

Holiday Greetings to All!

Are you lost this time of year when it comes to decor? Here are some simple tips to help make your holiday home sparkle!

Ornament Globes aren’t just for Trees
These beauties look great when you arrange them in a bowl, a hurricane candle holder, a vase, etc. Pick an assortment of colors, go with just one or choose a few. Simply put them in the container, garnish with some fresh greens, flowers, ribbons, etc. if you choose, and VOILA! Holiday sparkle on a dime! (For the budget minded, you can often find ornament globes at thrift and dollar stores.)

The Sweet Smell of Spices
If you like the scent of cinnamon and cloves, you’ll love this tip! Fill a saucepan with water, add cinnamon and cloves (sticks or powder both work), bring to a boil then reduce to simmer. Leave it on the stove to simmer and the scent will fill your home. Don’t forget to be mindful of the water needing to be refilled due to evaporation, if you plan to keep it simmering over a period of time. I find this method actually works better than burning scented candles.

Hope your holidays are fun and low in stress. Just remember, it’s not really about the presents, etc.. It’s about being with people you care about.

I am available for holiday decoration assistance, as well as other interior decor needs and dreams. First consultation is complimentary!

Thanks for the info, good blog!
Managing your money during the holidays is simple once you know the pro’s and con’s involved. Reevaluating how you shop during the holiday seasons is also a part of sensible money management. Setting spending limits where your credit is concerned is always the best bet. Hope you will find those resources useful for your blog and to your many readers. Have a super day!

thank you for that feedback. i have been re-evaluating the holiday buying sprees for years now. i am more interested in being with loved ones. gifts are fun and also not necessary, esp. when i have things i need already.

why not put the money one would spend on gifts that someone doesn’t “need” and buy xmas dinner for families that wont have it without some assistance? 🙂

money management is a very good thing!

I love your tips for inexpensive ways to get your home holiday ready. you can also pick up some candles and ribbon at your dollar store or even the thrift shop. I use ribbon to adorn some of my vases that I have around the house. It’s makes things a little more festive and it’s cheap.
